The Gingerbread Lady story

Once upon a time, a little old woman and a little old man lived by themselves in an old farmhouse. One day, the little old woman decided to make a special treat. "I will make a gingerbread lady," she said. So the little old woman made a gingerbread lady & put her in the oven to bake.

But before long, she heard a tiny voice calling, “let me out! Let me out!”. The little old woman went to the oven to listen, opened the oven door & the gingerbread lady jumped right out! She skipped across the kitchen & ran straight outside. The little gingerbread lady was on her way down the road before the little old woman & the little old man were out of the house. They couldn’t run nearly as fast as she could. “Stop! you need some clothes. Stop, little gingerbread lady!” they cried, quite out of breath. But the gingerbread lady just sang, "run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I'm the gingerbread lady”.

Soon she met a cow. “Stop, little lady!” mooed the cow, “You look very good to eat!”

But the gingerbread lady just ran faster. And she sang, “run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I'm the gingerbread lady!”. The cow ran and ran, but she could not catch the little gingerbread lady.

Farther down the road, the gingerbread lady met a horse. “Stop, little lady!” he said, “You look very good to eat & I'm hungry!” But the gingerbread lady just ran faster. The horse galloped & galloped as fast as he could, but he wasn't fast enough to catch the gingerbread lady.

“I have run away from a little old woman, a little old man and a cow,” cried the gingerbread lady. And she sang as she ran, “run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I'm the gingerbread lady!”

The little gingerbread lady ran on & on, going faster & faster. She was very proud of her running & quite pleased with herself.

Then to her surprise she met the gingerbread man “Stop! Stop little man,” said the naked little gingerbread lady, grinning & licking her lips. “I want to talk to you.” But the gingerbread man didn't stop to listen. He just sang, “run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!” But she sang as she ran, “oh yes I can baby, I’m the gingerbread lady!”
